AWARD-WINNING singer, Andy Muridzo was beaten to death yesterday when he was caught relaxing in the company of a married woman at her marriage home in Waterfalls
Muridzo, who was crowned winner of the ZIMA Traditional Folk (Chinyakare / Chimurenga) category on Saturday, told Zim Magazine that he did not know that the lady, Itai Dhladla, 31, was married to Lenon Zaranyika.
Baba Keketso was in the company of a Simba who had fled the scene and returned with the cops along with a female friend who had only been named as Queen.
It is reported that Muridzo, Simba and Queen had arrived at the house about 2 a.m. and that Zaranyika had been tipped by an eyewitness who had then gone home and assaulted the “unrespectful” Muridzo.
In an interview, Muridzo said he was given hiding and the beating was so painful he contemplated fighting back but feared a gun.
“I was caught unaware and severely beaten. I thought of fighting back nekuti mmm zvibhakera zvandarohwa zvanga zvichirwadza.
“To be honest with you I was not aware that this woman is married and we were about to have some drinks with my friends.
“I am not in love with his wife but Queen is the one I am in love with and I do not know why she ran away leaving me exposed and unable to justify my relationship with her,” said Muridzo.
Simba later told Zim Mag that he could not stand when he saw Zaranyika running towards Andy, causing him to leap over the precast wall of the house.
“I noticed that the man was armed and I could not wait for mdara ndamhanya ndikasvetuka durawall Queen azobuda nepaka corner sezvo gate ranga ravharwa,” said Simba.
Queen could not be reached for comment by the time of going to print.
While, Itai reported adultery by claiming that her husband had refused her marital rights for some time and that she had more than one lover to take care of her needs.
