Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Indonesia, Dr. Partogi Samosir won the Diplomat of the Year Award 2018 at a ceremony held in Cresta Lodge, Harare on 22 March 2019.
The Rotary e-Club “Ambassador 9210” reviews the accomplishments of outstanding diplomats to identify those who have made the greatest contribution to Zimbabwe and honour them at Rotary’s Diplomat of the Year Awards in Harare.
This award is given for merit and not automatically given each year, said Borislav Borynov, the Secretary of the Rotary e-Club “Ambassador 9210”
Foreign diplomats are playing a critical role in preserving the environment and participating in the development of societies through many platforms such as tourism, said Minister for Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, H.E. Mrs. Prisca Mupfumira in her written speech read by the Director of Tourism development, Mr. Douglas Runyowa.
“Zimbabwe need a system innovation to achieve its 2030 Vision. And diplomacy could greatly facilitate such a system innovation which in turn will increase the Zimbabwe’s Gross National Income to be more than US$ 2 000 per capita”, underlined Dr. Partogi Samosir.
The event is attended by business communities, politicians, members of the diplomatic community, and civil society and media luminaries.
