If there is one thing you cannot take away from Nasty C, it’s his unrelenting work ethic. The kid has had one helluva year, and everything has lined itself up for the Durban-born rapper to spill into 2019 in a big way.

We did say it a few times that MTV Base Africa’s #HottestMCs was created for the purpose of causing destruction. It was not made to celebrate the best in South Africa. It was curated to trend and to do so there has to be some shocking additions to the list of the ten #HottestMCs in South Africa.

There was nothing controversial about Nasty C featuring on that list. The begging question that his legion of fans will be arguing is whether he deserved a higher ranking on the list.

Nasty made it a lot simpler for his fans to bring the super facts to the table with a string of tweets that proved that, if anything, he was touched by the controversy of that annoying list.

The conversation will soon turn to whether Nasty C is the GOAT of South African Hip-Hop, and if the room is unable to reach a consensus, at the very least, the kid will have a leg to stand on.

  • sophomore album, Strings N Bling, achieved platinum status (sale of 20 000 units or more);
  • hit single, King, featuring A$AP Ferg, achieved triple platinum status;
  • hit single, Jungle from Strings N Bling, achieved double platinum status;
  • 15 award nominations;
  • became first South African artist to receive YouTube Silver Play button and gold plaque
  • concluded one of Southern Africa’s most lucrative tours, Ivyson Tour;
  • launched independent record imprint label, Tall Racks Records;
  • included in Forbes Africa 30 under 30 list for 2018;
